On this day, the first European Cup was won

1ª Copa de Europa

Real Madrid won their first trophy in the competition by beating Stade de Reims.

On 13 June 1956, Real Madrid became the first winners of the European Cup. The Whites claimed their first title at Parc des Princes in Paris after beating Stade de Reims. It was an epic game with the madridistas having to come back from 2-0 down before Hidalgo later added another. Di Stéfano, Rial with two and Marquitos were the Whites' scorers in this historic match.

Real Madrid, who supported the creation of this competition, debuted in the European Cup against Servette on 8 September 1955 in Geneva. Miguel Muñoz scored the club's first goal in the tournament in a 2-0 away victory. After the Swiss team, Partizan and Milan were the opponents in the following rounds.
